Let’s Get Lost in Los Angeles

During the summer of 2016, my family and I spent a week in Southern California. The original plan was to explore the theme parks such as Disneyland, Universal Studios, and visit some of the universities that I was applying to. However, things did not turn out as we planned.

We got lost in the middle of probably one of the busiest cities in California.

Day One, was quite an exhausting day. Well, mostly for my mom. She drove about six hours from the Bay Area to LA. We took a few stops here and there, to stretch and eat a snack. Then, we continued to drive towards our motel.

Day Two, we spent the whole entire day at Disneyland. If you didn’t already know, Disneyland is one of my favorite places in the world. It has a special place in my heart because it reminds me of my middle school band trip. Plus, Walt Disney’s legacy will always inspire me to share my creativity with others. The various rides we rode on were Hyperspace Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Indiana Jones.

Day Three, my family and I decided to visit two of the colleges on my “Apply To” list. Those colleges were CSU Fullerton and CSU Long Beach. I wanted to tour these campuses to see what each college had to offer. I enjoyed visiting CSU Long Beach because I saw the students and got the opportunity to view the different types of departments for each major.

After the first college visit, we headed towards CSU Fullerton. Unfortunately, LA traffic plus a slow GPS equals unexpected destinations. During this moment of panic and stress, came a miracle. We stumbled across this place called “Anaheim Packing District.” We chose to stop here for lunch and then go visit the college. Luckily, the place was close by to the school.

Anaheim Packing District was a cool trendy food court which local vendors sold unique food such as Asian fusion dishes, Southern seafood, and even desserts like “Dragon’s Breath.” From this experience, I can tell you that great things happen when you least expect it. So don’t be afraid to get lost sometimes.

See you next time,

Eryka
