Do you like to travel to SF and want cool pictures for your Instagram feed? If yes, then you should continue reading this blog. I will inform you about the touristy spots and the underrated instagrammable locations of San Francisco.
1. Golden Gate Bridge
The Golden Gate Bridge is one of SF’s well-known landmarks. Ironically, this bridge is painted red instead of gold. The construction of the landmark began in 1933. Fun fact: it is quoted to take about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to complete walking across the bridge! If you do end up visiting this location, you might run into “Karl the Fog,” SF’s popular gloomy clouds. Come visit SF and take artsy photos of the bridge and landscape.
2. Palace of Fine Arts
The Palace of Fine Arts is another place that is very instagram-worthy. Many people take photos here for prom, engagement shoots, wedding shoots, or other special events. This location is amazing for it’s Greek-inspired architecture and lagoon. You can find the Palace of Fine Arts in the Marina District of SF.
3. Pier 39
Pier 39 is another one of SF’s touristy spots. Many people walk around and browse the unique shops. However, you can also take photos here! When you walk past the shops, you will find a heart statue located in the back. You can also spot the sea lions lying down on the docks beside the pier. Beware, they can be loud and noisy (but, very cute)! You can also see the Alcatraz in the distance. Check Pier 39 out next time you visit SF and take cute touristy pics!
4. Chinatown
Another place to take photos is San Francisco’s Chinatown. Chinatown is a great place to experience part of the Chinese culture without visiting China. Although it may be bit different, Chinatown in SF has authentic dim sum restaurants, small convenient stores, and many more. Many people take photos near the Dragon’s Gate and Grant Avenue, where you can find the red lanterns.
5. Mission Dolores Park
If you want to take candid photos of you and your friends with the beautiful scenery, check out Mission Dolores Park. Many people have picnics, relax, and enjoy the view. This location definitely has more of a laid back feel.
6. Murals at Haight and Ashbury Street
For all the art enthusiasts out there, you can visit the murals at Haight and Ashbury street. I really enjoy this location because of the variety of colors and meanings behind the artwork. This location was developed during the 60s hippie movement. Some of the artwork represents singers, activists, and other influential people during that time. Next time you visit these murals, don’t forget to strike some groovy poses for your pictures!
7. Painted Ladies
The Painted Ladies are another one of SF’s most popular landmarks. The Painted Ladies are a row of pastel colored Victorian houses. These houses have been featured on many television shows such as Full House. Just like the Golden Gate Bridge, you can find the Painted Ladies on almost any SF souvenir. Check this place out, especially if you enjoy architectural photography.
8. Hearts in San Francisco
Located in the heart (no pun-intended) of SF’s Union Square are the artsy heart statues. You can find four of them on each corner of Union Square Plaza. They are very detailed and colorful! If you live in SF, be sure to check out these hearts every now and then because the designs are always changing. Fun Fact: these hearts are a way to fundraise money for the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation!
9. Lombard Street
Lombard Street is SF’s steepest hill with eight hairpin turns. Although this crazy street may be challenging for drivers, the photos will be worth the drive. Be sure to check out this location during the Spring or Summer times, when the flowers are blossoming.
10. SF Stairs: 16th Avenue Tiled Steps/ Mosaic Stairway/ Lincoln Park Steps
If you like your photos to be colorful and have fun geometric patterns, then check out the mosaic stairways in San Francisco. SF has many stairs such as the 16th Avenue Tiled Steps, Mosaic Stairway, and Lincoln Park Steps. Some of them were created by the neighborhoods in SF. I recommend checking these stairways for some creative Instagram pictures.
11. Conservatory of Flowers
The Conservatory of Flowers is a botanical garden in SF consisting of a unique variety of plants and flowers. People can visit this location to admire nature, to have photoshoots, or for both! My favorite part of this location has to be the giant Lily pads floating on top of the water. They are so beautiful!! Visit the Conservatory of Flowers sometime!
12. SF MOMA
SF MOMA or also known as SF Museum of Modern Art is a popular place to visit to see different kinds of paintings and sculptures. A few of the artwork displayed there are from famous artists such as Frida Kahlo. Check this place out for some artsy Instagram posts.
13. Labyrinth at Land’s End
The Labyrinth at Land’s End is located at the Lands End Trail in SF. This simple hidden creation is made by the artist Eduardo Aguilera. At this location, you can see the view of the ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge.
14. Billy Goat Hill
The Billy Goat Hill is another hidden location of San Francisco. It is located in Glen Park Neighborhood. The Billy Goat Hill is a small hill where you can see the view of SF and you also can go on the swing. Time to take some pics for the gram!
15. Japanese Tea Garden
The Japanese Tea Garden is great place to take pictures! You can see the koi ponds, waterfalls, many kinds of plants, and Japanese-styled bridge and architecture. This location is fantastic for those who enjoy a peaceful environment where can view nature.
And that’s a wrap! Hopefully, next time you visit SF you will check these places out and take some cute pictures! Thank you for reading my blog.
See you next time,
